Ford will launch the new Figo in India on the 15th of this month, as per a new report from Autocar India. Dealerships have started taking pre-orders for the facelifted model with a deposit of INR 10,000.

The new Ford Figo is expected to have the same exterior design as the new Ford Ka+ (pictured).

Launched in 2015, the second generation Ford Figo will get minor cosmetic updates, new engines and new technologies with the mid-cycle refresh. On the design front, changes will include revised bumpers, new radiator grille and lower grille, C-shaped applique on the front bumper, C-shaped moulding at each corner of the rear bumper, tweaked headlights and new alloy wheels.

Inside, the Ford Figo will get the 6.5-inch SYNC 3 touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. On the safety front, ABS with EBD and driver SBR will likely become standard. New safety features should include speed alert system (standard), front passenger SBR (standard) and side and curtain airbags.

The 1.2- and 1.5-litre Ti-VCT four-cylinder petrol engines will get replaced by 1.2- and 1.5-litre Ti-VCT three-cylinder petrol engines, while the 1.5-litre TDCi four-cylinder diesel engine will remain as is. A Getrag-made 5-speed manual transmission will replace the IB5 5-speed manual transmission. The 6-speed PowerShift DCT will get replaced by a conventional 6-speed automatic transmission.

The new 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 96 PS at 6,500 rpm and 120 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm. The new 1.5-litre petrol engine develops 123 PS at 6,500 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. Ford may offer a bi-fuel CNG variant of the smaller engine as well.
