India-made Fuso trucks launched in Trinidad and Tobago - IAB Report

First export market in South America for the India-made trucks.

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. (DICV), the wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler AG, Germany along with Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation, Japan (MFTBC), a Daimler Company, launched DICV-made trucks in Trinidad and Tobago.

Exports of the Fuso truck range out of India started in May 2013.

Since the start of export of these trucks back in May 2013, Trinidad and Tobago are the 12th export market, and the first market in South America. In these South American islands, the trucks will be sold under “Diamond Motors” an authorized local distributor.

Apart from Trinidad and Tobago, DICV exports the Fuso truck range to markets in Kenya, Zambia, Sri Lanka and Tanzania with more markets to follow in the region, the company said in a statement.

The Fuso range caters to Medium and Heavy duty trucks with 5 models.

The Fuso truck range made at the company's plant in Oragadam, Chennai, comprises of five models categorized under Heavy Duty and Medium Duty. The Heavy Duty range (25-49 tonnes) features models such as the FJ, FO and FZ, while the Medium Duty (9-16 tonnes) has the FA and FI models.
