Had SAIC not been at the helm of affairs at GM India, we would probably be looking at the Chevrolet Onix or the Sonic instead of the Sail.

Chevrolet Onix is GM's affordable hatchback contender conceived specifically for Brazil. GM released a official image of the Onix hatchback a few days ahead of the Sao Paulo Motor Show.

So the Onix will enjoy the pride of the place at GM's stall.

The Onix looks neat and simple and sits on a decent ground clearance. The nose is characterized by twin port Chevy grill and a funky front bumper. The rear of the car is steeply raked which apart from giving it a nice silhouette, also makes way for a decent boot space.

The waist lines start strongly at either ends but are discontinued in the middle and there is a bold crease running along the lower part of the doors. The car in the official image didn't have alloy wheels suggesting its low cost roots.

Chevrolet Onix will be powered by a 1.0 litre or 1.4 litre flex fuel engines which are available with an option of 6-speed automatic transmission. The car will be equipped with Chevy's MyLink multimedia infotainment system.

The Onix is based on the Chevrolet Sonic platform.
