Hyundai on Wednesday launched the Grand i10 in Nepal. Hyundai's sole distributor in the mountain nation, Laxmi Intercontinental, has announced that the Grand i10 will retail for Rs 2.32 to 2.69 million (14.48 lakh rupees to 16.80 lakh rupees).

The Grand i10 in Nepal comes only with three variants.

Hyundai (after some lessons on cannibalization from the Indian market maybe?) has launched only the Magna, Asta and Asta (O) variants in the Nepalese market. The Korean major has experienced fair success in the nation, with the i10 hatchback recently crossing 5,000 unit sales in the five years it has been in existence there. The company has appointed dealers in 11 Nepali towns, all of whom will retail the car.

The Grand i10 in Nepal gets the 1.2-liter engine from Hyundai that we've all come to know. The engine develops 83 bhp and a peak torque of 11.6 kgm. Available both as a five-speed manual transmission and as a four-speed automatic transmission variant, there however is no diesel engine on offer in Nepal.

The Grand i10 is available in both manual and automatic transmissions.

Production for Nepal is from the company's manufacturing facility just outside Chennai.

Hyundai has tasted success in Nepal over the years as the company is now number 1 in the country, with a 42 percent market share. According to local trade reports, the Santro, still registering good numbers, has overtaken the Alto in terms of sales and aided by the Eon, catapulted Hyundai ahead of Maruti.
