Spied: Great Wall Haval H5 caught testing in India

It’s quite literally raining SUVs and CUVs in India! Ford Ecosport, Renault Duster, facelifted Captiva, Tata Safari Storme, Mahindra XUV500, Force One, Premier Rio, Mahindra Mini Xylo, XA Alpha concept, you name it and it’s there.

One more SUV soon to join the lineup is Great Wall Haval H5. Thanks to our friends at GoaOnWheels, we bring you an uncamouflaged spyshot of the Haval H5 caught testing in Noida.

So is Great Wall Motors planning an entry in India? The simple answer to that question is NO. However, International Cars & Motor Ltd (ICML), the company that manufactures Rhino MPV, is reportedly planning to bring the Haval H5 to India under their own brand name. The test car caught over here is a five seat variant.

The Haval H5 is a handsome looking SUV that comes in a 5 seat and 7 seat avatar with 2- or 4-wheel drive. Before making up your mind ‘Oh! It’s another Chinese product’ let me tell you that the Haval H5 has passed all European tests regarding environment protection, safety and performance. The interior of the Haval H5 is pretty neat as well.

Some of the interesting features include:

  • E-controlled switch for 4WD
  • ABS+EBD+TCS
  • Anti-dazzle Interior Mirror
  • Remote Control Central Door Lock
  • Leather-trimmed Steering with Bluetooth and stereo control
  • Power adjustable seats (driver only),
  • A DVD player with six speakers and GPS
  • An electronically operated sunroof
  • Optional heated seats

The Haval H5 is available in both petrol and diesel options:

  • 2.4-litre petrol engine producing 134 bhp and 203 Nm of torque
  • 2.5-litre diesel generating 107 bhp and 305 Nm of torque.

Internationally, the Haval H5 can be ordered with a  five-speed manual or six-speed manual transmission depending on the model.

ICML plans to launch the Haval H5 in competition to the XUV500, Safari Storme, Aria, Force One et al. So expect the sticker price to be between 10-13 lakhs.

Now that you know so much about the Haval H5, what do you think – Hail or Fail?
