In December 2018, it was reported that Great Wall Motors would enter the Indian market in 2021. In line with this, the Chinese car marque has been spotted testing the Haval H6 Coupe in India, if reports and the accompanying photo is to be trusted.

The Haval H6 Coupe could be the first model that Great Wall Motors plans to introduce in the Indian car market in 2021.

The Haval H6 Coupe made its market debut at the Auto Shanghai in April 2015. Previewed by the Haval Coupe C concept, the H6 Coupe shares its underpinnings with the H6 SUV. The coupe-crossover received a mid-cycle facelift recently, and it's the updated model that has been spotted on the Indian soil. It is 4,549 mm long, 1,835 mm wide and 1,700 mm tall. While these dimensions make it a tad smaller than the H6, what's interesting is that the 2,720 mm wheelbase is 40 mm more than that of the H6.

The interior of the Haval H6 Coupe offers premium features like an 8-way electrically adjustable driver seat, 4-way adjustable front passenger seat, 8-inch touchscreen LCD infotainment system, and a panoramic sunroof. The safety and driving assistance features include electronic stability program (ESP), electronic brake force distribution system (EBD), hill-start assist system (HHC), downhill assist control (HDC) system, brake assist (BA) system, AVH automatic braking, brake override system (BOS), and blind spot detection.

Powering the Haval H6 Coupe is a 2.0-litre turbocharged direct injection petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 197 PS and a peak torque of 315 Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed wet-type dual clutch automatic unit. The former can be paired with optional 4WD hardware.

The Haval H6 Coupe shares its underpinnings with the H6 SUV, which has been one of the highest-selling models in the Chinese car market.

Great Wall Motors has hired Kaushik Ganguly, former Head of Product Planning and Strategy at Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, to plan the company's Indian market foray. It is being said that the manufacturer has earmarked an investment of up to INR 7,000 for its Indian operations and that it is exploring a production facility in Gujarat.
