Honda Activa surpasses the 1 crore sales milestone - IAB Report
Retains India’s best selling 2 wheeler crown.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter have announced that their best seller, the Honda Activa, has crossed the 1 crore sales milestone since its debut in 2001.
The Honda Activa was one of the few scooters that helped re-establish the 2-wheeled scooter segment in the Indian market back then. It helped Honda stay afloat in the two-wheeler market, which was dominated by Hero Honda in its time (now just Hero).
In February this year, HMSI launched the Activa 3G with new side panels, taillight, indicators and a new 3D logo. However, the mechanicals of the scooter were left unchanged. It is powered by a single-cylinder 110 cc engine capable of 8 PS and 8.74 Nm of torque, and is paired to a CVT gearbox. Aided by HET (Honda Eco Technology), the scooter has a claimed efficiency of 60 km/l under internal tests.

The Honda Activa remains India's best selling two wheeler in the country, and has a commanding market share 59% market share in the scooter segment. In FY’2014-15, Honda has sold over 2.1 million units of the Activa, thus highlighting its demand in the market.
