Honda ADV 150 officially unveiled at GIIAS 2019

Honda has some immensely exciting models which it retails in the ASEAN region. That list has now been joined by ADV 150, a new adventure tourer-centric automatic scooter that follows the design philosophy of the successful Honda X-ADV. It bears a tough futuristic design and long suspension strokes that no other scooter has.

The Honda ADV 150 is powered by a 149.3 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled mill.

The Honda ADV 150 looks like a smaller variant of the X-ADV, but it has a new headlamp position. The whole scooter has been carefully crafted from the drawing board and that shows. The ADV 150 makes us want to forget all of the boring commuters Honda has thrown at us for almost two decades.

Powering the Honda ADV 150 is a 149.3 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled, SOHC eSP (Enhanced Smart Power) engine supported by an Idling Stop System for higher fuel efficiency. The engine is of the same bore and stroke ratio as that of the Honda PCX150. It produces 14.5 PS of power and 13.8 Nm of torque in this model. The maximum power is 0.2 PS lower, but the maximum torque is 0.6 Nm higher.

Suspension duties in the Honda ADV 150 are administered by standard telescopic fork up front and twin gas-charged springs at the rear, and the latter is a first for any Honda automatic scooter. Brakes include a hydraulic petal disc at both ends (240 mm front and 220 mm rear) assisted by Honda’s proprietary Combined Braking System. ABS is available as an option. The ADV 150 is shod with wide knobby tyres which Honda calls semi-dual purpose. Also adding to the safety net is ESS (Emergency Stop Signal) feature. This technology ESS automatically activates hazard lights during sudden braking.

On the security side, Honda ADV 15 is supported by the Honda Smart Key and alarm system. Other key features include adjustable windscreen, LED headlight, 28-litre under-seat storage and DC charger. The all-digital instrumentation adds to the charm of the scooter.

Honda may not launch the ADV 150 in India.

The Honda ADV 150 has been priced at IDR 33.5 million (INR 1.65 lakh) for the CBS trim and at IDR 36.5 million (INR 1.80 lakh) for the ABS trim (both prices on-road Jakarta). There has been no official word about an Indian launch. However, after the failure of the Navi, Honda might not risk with other products that are offbeat for our market anytime soon.
