Honda Africa Twin trial production commences in India

The Honda Africa Twin will not be introduced with a manual gearbox.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd has announced the commencement of trial production of the Honda Africa Twin. The adventure tourer will be Honda’s second big capacity motorcycle to be assembled in India.

The 2017 Honda Africa Twin gains a new Candy Prominence Red paint scheme.

Just like the Honda CBR650F, the Honda Africa Twin will have low levels of localisation. The motorcycle boasts of features like switchable rear ABS and Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC).

The 2017 Honda Africa Twin is powered by a 998 cc in-line two-cylinder mill which will be coupled to a 6-speed dual clutch automatic (DCT) gearbox. The engine produces 95 PS of maximum power at 7,500 rpm (an improvement of around 2 PS) and 98 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm.

The bike has a 21-inch wheel up front and an 18-incher in the rear. Honda claims a fuel efficiency of 21.6 km/l (WMTC) for the Honda Africa Twin.

The Honda Africa Twin gets a 998 cc mill and will be coupled to a 6-speed DCT box.

The Honda Africa Twin will carry a premium price tag and will launch shortly.
