Honda BR-V has made its Indian debut at the Auto Expo 2016, following its global debut at the 2015 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show.

Honda says that the BR-V is built on “Active Solid Motion” design philosophy. It features a tough exterior that is characterized by a high ground clearance, sleek roof rails, big alloy wheels, tailgate spoiler and striking tail lights.

The BR-V is based on the Brio's platform and has space for seven occupants, with seats laid out in a three-row configuration. The dimensions of the SUV are 4,455 mm, 1,735 mm and 1,650 mm in length, width and height respectively. It has a wheelbase of 2,660 mm and a ground clearance of more than 200 mm.

The interior of the Indonesian-spec model is equipped with a 6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, electrically-operated side mirrors and a 50:50 split for the third row of seats. The top-end of the BR-V is also equipped with safety features such as dual-front airbags, ABS, EBD and Hill Start Assist. These features are expected to be offered in India as well.

The Indian version will come with 1.5L petrol and diesel engines married to 6-speed manual transmission as standard. The former engine produces 120 hp and 145 Nm in the Indonesia-spec BR-V, while the diesel engine is expected to churn out 100 hp and 200 Nm of peak torque.
