India-bound Honda BR-V launched in Thailand in 5 and 7 seat versions - IAB Report

Honda Automobile (Thailand) Company Limited has launched the Honda BR-V in two versions - a five-seater and a seven-seater. Both are powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol engine that is offered only with a CVT. The company targets an annual sales of 15,000 units.

Honda BR-V V (5-seater) - THB 750,000 (INR 14.26 lakhs)
Honda BR-V SV (7-seater) - THB 820,000 (INR 15.59 lakhs)

The BR-V is powered by the 1.5-litre i-VTEC gasoline engine that is tuned to produce 117 hp and 145 Nm. Both the variants are provided only with CVT.

The 1.5-litre four-cylinder 16-valve i-VTEC gasoline engine on the BR-V that is developed under Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology, is tuned to produce 117 hp and 145 Nm. The motor is compatible with E85 fuel.

The Honda BR-V is the first SUV in its segment that hosts seven occupants. The BR-V SV (7-seater) is provided with a second row seat that can be moved forward and backward for ingress and egress of third row occupants, and whose backrest can be adjusted to two reclining positions. The third row seat can be split-folded in a 50:50 proportion and can be folded completely down to increase the boot space. The BR-V V (5-seater) gets a 60:40 split-folding second row seat which has a cargo floor board and houses a utility boxes underneath.

The Honda BR-V is expected to be sold in Thailand at the rate of 15,000 units per annum.

The sub-compact SUV is offered with safety features such as dual front SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), and a rearview camera, as standard in both variants. The other features include One Push Ignition System, Honda Smart Key System, automatic air-conditioning system, and a 6.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system that has an audiovisual connection via HDMI, and other input ports such as USB and AUX-in, apart from being compatible to be connected with iOS and Android devices.

The BR-V is confirmed to have its Indian debut at the Auto Expo 2016 next week.
