Honda BR-V to be priced "very competitively", targets Creta, Duster

To launch in the market on May 5.

In an interview with ET Auto, Mr. Jnaneshwar Sen, Senior Vice-President of Marketing and Sales at Honda Cars India stated that the Honda BR-V will be priced "very competitively". It will launch in the market on May 5, 2016.

The BR-V measures 4,455 mm long, 1,735 mm wide, 1,650 mm high, has a wheelbase of 2,660 mm and a ground clearance of 201 mm. It slots in the family SUV segment that comprises of the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. The BR-V is likely to trump both models on space and practicality, given that it has the longest wheelbase and is available with third row seats.

The exterior gets projector headlights with LED light guides, diamond-cut alloy wheels, roof rails, skid plates and a rear spoiler. Inside, the dashboard of the Honda BR-V is identical to the one in the recently-launched Honda Amaze facelift. Some of the features equipped in the BR-V would include ABS, EBD, dual front airbags, steering-mounted controls, automatic climate control, and an integrated Bluetooth-enabled music system.

Engine lineup will include the Honda City-sourced 1.5-liter petrol and diesel engines. The latter engine is expected to develop 100 PS and 200 Nm of torque, and will be paired to a 6-speed manual transmission, while the specifications of the former engine will be revealed in the coming weeks. There will not be an AWD option, while a CVT (automatic) is likely to be offered in the petrol variant.
