Developed by Honda's R&D team in Thailand.

Earlier in the week, Honda announced the name of its all-new crossover, and released the first design sketches of the Honda BR-V. Based on these sketches, IndianAutosBlog's Shoeb Kalania has come up with a digital mockup of the BR-V production version, which is slated to launch in Indonesia early next year, and subsequently in the Indian market.

The BR-V is confirmed to get a 3-row seating layout.

The design of the front fascia, especially the headlights, reminds us of the Mahindra XUV500, while over to the sides, the BR-V gets a similar rear window as the Mobilio. The BR-V shares plenty of body creases with the Mobilio as well, which itself is a stylish vehicle.

The BR-V is announced to have been developed by Honda R&D Asia Pacific Co., Ltd. (HRAP) in Thailand, and will be targeted at Asian markets primarily. That being said, the BR-V could also be sold in South Africa where products like the Brio and Mobilio are already sold (exported by Honda Cars India).

Honda announced that the BR-V will be powered by its 1.5-liter petrol engine (likely the 1.5-liter i-VTEC which does duty on the City and Mobilio) and will come with two "advanced" transmission options which could include a 5-speed manual and a CVT.

Official sketch of the Honda BR-V added for reference.

However, more details on the BR-V are expected at its premiere at the 2015 Indonesia International Motor Show which starts on August 20, 2015.
