Indonesia - Low-cost Honda Brio Satya introduced

PT Honda Prospect Motor, the Indonesian subsidiary of Honda, has launched the Honda Brio Satya variant. The Brio Satya is essentially a low-cost Brio that is being introduced to take advantage of Indonesia's LCGC (Low Cost Green Car) project which promises tax benefits.

The Brio Satya is Honda's answer to Indonesia's LCGC project.

While the regular Brio in Indonesia gets a 1.3-liter i-VTEC engine producing 100PS and 127Nm, the Brio Satya gets the 1.2-liter i-VTEC (sold in India and Thailand) producing 88PS and 109Nm of torque. The 1.3-liter Brio is being called the 'Brio Sports' and is available in a single 'E' variant only.

The 1.2-liter variant has been introduced in 'Satya' and regular variants. The only difference is that the regular Brio is available with an automatic transmission (in 'S' and 'E' grades) while the Satya gets a manual gearbox and would be available in 'A', 'S' and 'E' grades.

Top-end variant gets rear wiper/washer, alloy wheels and 2-DIN stereo system with iPod connectivity.

The LCGC mandates that the manufacturer localize their offerings up to a certain extent. Hence, the Satya is locally produced in Indonesia with 85% localization. The Satya 'A' variant is PT Honda Prospect's cheapest car in Indonesia with a price of 106 million Indonesian Rupiah (INR 5.81 lakhs).

All variants of the Satya get dual front airbags, while the top-end E gets rear wiper/washer, foglights, 14-inch alloy wheels and a 2-DIN music system with CD/MP3, USB and iPod connectivity.
