Sales momentum continues to be on the upswing after the launch of the Honda Jazz premium hatchback.

New launches coupled with reduction in fuel prices and a good monsoon has led to a cumulative sales increase of 18.44 percent compared to its July 2014 sales of 15,709 units. This figure takes Honda ahead of Mahindra & Mahindra which sold 14,456 units in July this year, and in the process, taking it to third place in the Passenger Vehicle market. The UV major has been witnessing a decline in its sales figures since the last two months.

This battle is going to heat up in the future as M&M is readying its assault with a slew of facelifts and new launches coming in the form of the newly christened TUV300 and S101 compact crossover. M&M however, is still ahead of Honda in terms of cumulative sales, registering sales of 66,785 since April, to that of 63,053 managed by the Japanese car maker. This represents a lead of 3,732 units that the TUV300, launching in mid-September, would immediately start building on.
