Every second 125cc bike sold in India is a Honda CB Shine; sales cross 70 lakh units
A week ahead of Diwali, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India have reported a new milestone achieved by the CB Shine. The CB Shine range of motorcycles has crossed the 70 lakh customer base.

The CB Shine is India’s No. 1 selling 125cc motorcycle brand. Honda is the market leader in 125cc motorcycle segment with 51% market share. The company registered a 10% growth against 2% dip in the segment.
The Honda CB Shine uses a 124.73 cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine, featuring Honda Eco Technology (HET). The motor produces 10.16 bhp at 7,500 rpm and peak torque of 10.30 Nm at 5,500 rpm. The motorcycle is available in six colour options. Visual features include a premium 3D emblem, Chrome Carburettor Cover and a long seat.
To boost sales during the festive season, the Indian arm of the Japanese two-wheeler company has introduced the ‘Honda Joy Club’. New buyers would get the membership of the ‘Honda Joy Club’ free. Customers also stand a chance to win prizes like LG LED TV, Samsung Smartphones, Sony earphones etc. under the ‘Wings of Joy’ festive Lucky Draw. Moreover, Maha Joy & Bumper Joy rewards include Honda Brio and Amaze cars.
Meanwhile, the Hero MotoCorp Splendor has overtaken the Honda Activa as the bestseller in India for the month of September. India’s highest selling motorcycle clocked 2,85,508 units as against Honda Activa’s 2,84,809 units.
In September 2018, the Honda CB Shine witnessed a fall in sales. Yet, it was the ninth highest sold two-wheeler in India. In the motorcycle segment, the CB Shine was seventh best selling product in the country. The year-on-year sales witnessed 8 per cent fall as Honda sold 80,612 units of the motorcycle in September 2018 against 87,547 units in the corresponding month last year.

Two-wheeler sales took a hit in recent months due to floods in Kerala. Moreover, high fuel prices are providing no solace, which could also be a factor for the slowing down of demand.
