Honda CB Unicorn 160 discontinued in the Indian market - Report
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has axed the CB Unicorn 160 from its portfolio, reports Express Drives. The motorcycle did not receive the safety net of ABS, which is mandatory for all two-wheelers above 125 cc displacement in the Indian market.

Do note that the model is still listed in two variants – Standard and CBS – on the company’s India website. The standard variant was priced at INR 75,884*, while the CBS variant retailed at INR 78,332*. Regular readers would know that the CBS tech is valid for two-wheelers under 125 cc of displacement.
Honda had introduced the CB Unicorn 160 as a successor to the CB Unicorn 150, although the former did not deliver promising sales numbers and the latter was reintroduced due to heavy demand from customers. In 2016, the company sold 13,266 units of the 160 cc model. It has already updated the 150 cc model with a single-channel ABS and priced it at INR 78,815*. Honda introduced the CB Hornet 160R to cater to buyers who are looking for a premium motorcycle in the 150-180 cc displacement category.
Back in March this year, Minoru Kato, President and Chief Executive, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India had stated that not all existing models from the company’s portfolio would be available post the BS-VI upgrade.
To give you a quick recap, the BS-IV compliant Honda CB Unicorn 160 uses the 162.71 cc air-cooled engine paired with a 5-speed transmission. The single cylinder motor with carburettor churns out 13.82 BHP of peak power at 8,000 rpm and 13.92 Nm of max torque at 6,000 rpm. The top speed of the CB Unicorn 160 is rated at 106 km/h. Its feature list, unlike that of the 150 cc Unicorn, includes a fully digital instrument console that gives the CB Unicorn 160 a relatively premium look.
The hardware specifications included conventional telescopic forks and a monoshock at the front and back respectively. Stopping power came from a 130 mm drum at the rear and 240 mm disc at the front while the safety net, as mentioned above, includes CBS tech. The standard variant tipped the weighing scale at 134 kg while the CBS variant is 2 kg heavier at 136 kg.
