Honda CBR650F bookings officially open, launch on August 4 - IAB Report

Is the 10th launch of the company in 2015.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Private Limited (HMSI) today said that it had commenced bookings for the Honda CBR650F for an amount of INR 50,000. The motorcycle will launch on August 4.

The CBR650F is powered by a 649 cc four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 87 PS and 63 Nm of torque.

Among the 15 launches planned this year, the Honda CBR650F is perhaps the most powerful, equipped with a 649 cc four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 87 PS at 11,000 rpm and 63 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm, and is matched to a 6-speed transmission.

The CBR650F will be assembled in India with localization to the tune of roughly 5 percent. It was reported that the motorcycle will be retailed in around 20 locations in the country in the first phase. Assembly of the motorcycle would initially be limited to 2 units/day, and only one body color option would be available, the report said.

The CBR650F is built around a twin-spar steel frame. At the tape, it is 2,110 mm long, 755 mm wide, 1,145 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 1,450 mm. It employs a 41 mm telescopic fork up front and a swingarm monoshock strut at the rear.

Unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo, the biggest rival to the middleweight motorcycle is the Kawasaki Ninja 650.

Stopping power for Honda's middleweight motorcycle is tasked to the 320 mm twin-piston caliper disc at the front and a 240 mm single-piston caliper disc at the rear. A digital speedometer with two tripmeters are part of the features list.

The motorcycle's main competition will be from the Kawasaki Ninja 650, Triumph Street Triple and the Ducati Monster 795.
