Honda GST price cut to be applicable from July 1 - Report

Bajaj Auto was the first two-wheeler maker to announce a pre-GST price cut.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd has confirmed to MoneyControl that the two-wheeler maker will be reducing prices of its models from July 1, 2017. The new form of taxation, Goods and Service Tax (GST) will be applicable from the same day.

Honda Activa is the country's largest selling two-wheeler in the country.

Honda’s best-selling products, the Honda Activa and Honda CB Shine are the most popular products in their respective segment.

Mr YS Guleria, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, HMSI, said:

While the price cut will differ from state to state and product to product we expect it to range between 3-5 percent on an average. Whatever benefit there is (arising from GST) we will pass it on to the customer

Honda on June 20, 2017, launched the Honda Cliq based on the Honda Navi, which with its affordable price tag and versatility is trying to get a share of Hero MotoCorp’s major share of the rural market. The automatic scooter gets the same 109.19 cc engine doing duty in the Honda Activa.

Honda Shine is India's largest selling 125 cc motorcycle.

Honda recently started accepting bookings for the Honda Africa Twin. The adventure tourer will be Honda India’s second CKD motorcycle and will be retailed in the 6-speed DCT trim. The motorcycle has been priced at INR 12.90 lakhs and is limited to 50 units.
