IAB Weekly Retrospect - Honda Mobilio, Zest, Vento facelift, GLA, Ka

This is part 2 of the most important events in the Indian auto sector last week.

1. Honda Mobilio

The Honda Mobilio was launched on the 23rd of July in India, priced between INR 6.49 lakh - 10.86 lakh. The Mobilio petrol is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder i-VTEC engine that produces 119 PS (117.32 bhp) and 145 Nm of torque, coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission. The ARAI rated efficiency is 17.3 km/l.

The diesel variant gets the Amaze's 1.5-liter four-cylinder i-DTEC engine producing 100 PS (98.59 bhp) and 200 Nm of torque, and is coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission. The diesel variant delivers 24.2 km/l in the ARAI test, making it India's most fuel efficient MPV.

2. Tata Zest

News came in last week that the Tata Zest will be launched with a six-year warranty. The standard warranty will be applicable for the first three years, and an extended warranty will cover the next three years. The six year warranty, according to the report, is included in the car's price.

3. VW Vento facelift

A report said that VW India would launch the VW Vento facelift in September. Previously IAB had learned that the Vento facelift would sport a more localized design, one that is executed taking more Indian inputs into consideration. Expect the 1.5L four-cylinder TDI diesel engine from the Polo facelift to be used on the Vento facelift, in a higher state of tune.

4. Mercedes GLA

Mercedes-Benz India will launch the Mercedes GLA crossover in the festive season month of October, said one report. Mercedes dealerships started accepting bookings for the car in May this year for INR 1 lakh. Two engine options will be seen on the GLA in India, a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol motor and a 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel.

5. Ford Ka

Ford do Brazil launched the new Ka which is India bound in 2015 to replace or succeed the Ford Figo. The new Ka is powered by a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine producing 85 bhp and 107 Nm of torque, matched to a 5-speed manual transmission. A more powerful 1.5-liter engine option will be available in the future.
