Honda Rebel 250 & Honda Rebel 500 cruisers launched in Japan

The Honda Rebel family uses the powertrain from the corresponding CBR twin.

Honda Japan has launched the Honda Rebel 250 and Honda Rebel 500. Sales of the new cruisers will begin on 17 April 2017.

The Honda Rebel 250 gets a 249 cc mill producing 26 PS of power and 22 Nm of torque.

The Honda Rebel 250 was first showcased at the Osaka Motorcycle Show. Displacing 249 cc the single cylinder mill is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine is capable of producing 26 PS of maximum power at 9,500 rpm and 22 Nm of peak torque at 7,750 rpm. The bike tips the scales at 168 kg while the ground clearance stands at 150 mm. Colour options include Matt Armored Silver Metallic, Lemon Ice Yellow and Graphite Black.

The Honda Rebel 500 gets a twin cylinder 471 cc mill coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine is capable of producing 46 PS of power at 8,500 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The ground clearance is 135 mm, and the bike weighs 190 kg. The Honda Rebel 500 will be available only in Matt Armored Silver Metallic and Victory Red colours.

The Honda Rebel series is suspended on 41 mm forks and twin shocks in the rear. Tyres are 16-inch with a 130 section up front and a 150 section in the rear. Honda Japan aims to sell 1,500 units of the Honda Rebel 250 and 1,000 units of the Honda Rebel 500.

The Honda Rebel 250 has been priced at JPY 537,840 for the non-ABS version and JPY 588,600 for the ABS trim. The Honda Rebel 500 costs JPY 785,160.
