Honda India records best-ever two-wheeler sales of 5.78 lakh units in April
Sales volume difference between Hero and Honda was just 12,377 units in April.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) recorded its best performance with 578,929 units (domestic and exports) sold in April 2017, growing by 34 percent on year on year basis. HMSI currently has a market share of 30.5 percent in the two-wheeler market and have managed to cross the 5.5 lakh unit mark in the domestic market for the first time.
Automatic scooters continue to be the bulk of the sales with 368,618 units sold in April 2017. In comparison, sales for Honda scooters in April 2016 stood at 263,324 units. Honda’s erstwhile partner Hero ended April with total sales at 591,306 units. Honda has been steadily reducing the gap each month and the difference in April is a mere 12,377 units.

Honda India is currently gearing up to launch the Honda Africa Twin in the country as their second CKD product. Trial production of the adventure tourer has begun in April 2017 and the bike will be launched before August 2017.
Honda has also removed the Honda CBR150R and Honda CBR250R from the Indian website and is expected to bring the two faired motorcycles back in the BSIV avatar. However, volume augmentation will come from 2 new scooters that Honda has announced for this fiscal year.
HMSI’s best-selling product, the Honda Activa reached the 1.5 crores sales milestone last week. The company aims to sell a total of 6 million two-wheelers this fiscal.
