The Honda Vezel was launched in the Japanese market today. Unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show last month, the Vezel is a crossover based on the 2014 Jazz's platform.
For Japan, Honda will offer the compact SUV with two engine options. The base engine is a four-cylinder, 1.5-liter unit producing 131 PS and 155 Nm of torque. This engine is paired to either a CVT or a 7-speed stepped CVT and is offered with 2WD and 4WD. In the Japanese driving cycle, this model returns 20.6 km/l (2WD) and 19 km/l (4WD).
Next up is a hybrid engine which combines a 1.5-liter unit with an electric motor, producing 132 PS. All variants of the hybrid Vezel get a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, and the fuel economies range from 21.6 km/l to 27 km/l depending on the drive.
The base petrol Vezel 2WD is priced at 1.87 million Yen (INR 11.14 lakhs), the base 4WD petrol at 2.08 million Yen (INR 12.39 lakhs), the base hybrid at 2.19 million Yen (INR 13.04 lakhs) and the top-end model at 2.68 million Yen (INR 15.96 lakhs).
The Vezel will be available with eight body colors to choose from, and depending on the variant, Honda will offer 17-inch sport wheels, 16-inch alloy wheels or 16-inch steel rims (the tyre width on all models is 215 however).
