The Honda XR-V compact SUV that was launched last year in China, has been showcased at Auto Shanghai 2015. The B-segment SUV is the Chinese version of the Vezel, with minor modifications. With a length of 4,270 mm, the XR-V is 24 mm shorter than the Vezel, but with the width at 1,772 mm, height at 1,605 and a wheelbase of 2,610 mm, other dimensions remain unchanged.

At the front, differences include a different pair of headlamps, grille and bumper. At the rear, the China-spec model features redesigned tailgate and sleeker, full-width LED taillamps. Step inside the cabin and a low-tech interior, compared to the Vezel, awaits.

For instance, the Chinese version loses features like the floating center tunnel and leather inserts for the dashboard.

Two engine options are offered on the XR-V. The base engine is a 131 hp 1.5-litre petrol engine. The higher-end variants are powered by a 165 hp 1.8-litre petrol engine. Transmission choices on both engines include a 5-speed manual and a CVT gearbox.

While the Guangzhou Honda joint venture makes the Vezel, the Honda XR-V is built by the Dongfeng Honda joint venture, and sold in five trim levels with prices ranging from CN¥ 127,800 (INR 12.96 lakhs) to CN¥162,800 (INR 16.51 lakhs) at the launch.
