Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 to source parts from Bajaj vendors

The Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 are based on the KTM Duke's chassis.

With India being a hub for smaller KTM machines, Husqvarna too is set to be sourcing parts from India. Rajiv Bajaj, the MD of Bajaj Auto, revealed at the KTM press conference last week that approximately 50 to 60 percent of the Husky's components (by value) will be sourced from Bajaj vendors.

Both the Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 (pictured above) and Svartpilen 401 will get components sourced from Bajaj vendors.

The motorcycles are to be manufactured in India and Stefan Perier, KTM CEO, has has been known to be very interested in bringing the Husqvarna brand to India. The Husqvarna Vitpilen is a road going version borrowing the 373.2 cc mill from the 2017 KTM Duke 390. Coupled to a six-speed gearbox the engine is capable of producing 43.5 PS of maximum power at 9,000 rpm and 37 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm.

The bike tips the scales at 148 kg (without fuel) and has a ground clearance of 170 mm. The fuel tank can store just 9.5 litre of petrol and the braking system is the same as the KTM 390 with a 320 mm disc up front and a 230 mm unit in the rear.

With the Vitpilen 401 being an on-road version, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 is its on-off road nemesis. Fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Rally tyres unlike the Metzelers of the Vitpilen 401, the Svartpilen 401 gets spoked wheels. It also gets a smaller 300 mm front disc and a motocross inspired handlebar.

The Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 (pictured above) will carry the 373.2 cc KTM mill, which produces 43.5 PS of maximum power and 37 Nm of peak torque.

A launch time frame for the Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 for India has not been specified yet, though reports expect the bike to arrive later this year.
