Hyosung GD250R snapped in India for the first time - Spied

Will be positioned below the GT250R.

A reader of BikeAdvice has snapped images of the Hyosung GD250R, which is expected to launch in India this calendar year. In a past interview, Shivapada Ray, COO, DSK Motowheels, which manufactures and sells Hyosung and Benelli products in India, confirmed that the GD250R will be launched, as will the naked GD250N.

The Hyosung GD250R and GD250N get an all-new single-cylinder engine paired to a 6-speed transmission.

Hyosung already sells the GT250R in the quarter liter segment in India, however, the forthcoming GD models feature the brand's all-new engine. Where the GT250R is powered by a V-Twin 249 cc engine, the GD250R and the GD250N are powered by a single-cylinder 249 cc mill with an electronic fuel injection system.

The new Hyosung GD twins will kick off a price war with the KTM Duke 200 and RC200, and not to forget the Honda CBR250R.

This unit produces 28 hp at 9,500 rpm and 24 Nm at 7,000 rpm and is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. For reference, the twin-cylinder engine on the GT250R makes 28 hp and 22.07 Nm of torque. An LCD instrument cluster, 17-inch alloys, projector headlight and discs at both ends (300 mm up front and 230 mm at the rear) will be some of the highlights of the GD250R.

The GD250R's naked sibling, the Hyosung GD250N, was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo.

The GD250R and the GD250N will be the first single-cylinder Hyosung motorcycles in the country coming from DSK Motowheels, and are hence expected to wage a price war with the likes of the KTM Duke 200/RC200 and the Honda CBR250R.

Prices of the new Hyosung single-cylinder twins are expected to be below INR 2 lakhs, making them the most affordable Hyosungs in the country.
