Hyundai AH2 (2018 Hyundai Santro) to launch on 23 October - Report
Carwale reports that the Hyundai AH2 (codename) small car will launch on 23 October. While Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) is yet to announce the launch date, the company will have a media preview in early October. Various reports suggest that the AH2 will resurrect the Santro moniker.
The manufacturer has launched the 'Hyundai naamkaran' contest to invite suggestion for the market name of its entry-level car. In all likelihood, the winning entry will be used as a suffix to the 'Santro' brand. The media and customers opine that the name should be brought back with the AH2.
Underpinning the Hyundai AH2 (2018 Hyundai Santro) will be the last-gen i10's HA platform. The new Santro will be smaller than the Grand i10 and will reportedly replace the Eon hatchback.
It will go on sale with a petrol engine only and will become Hyundai's first car to offer an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). The five-speed AMT on the AH2 will be marketed as 'Smart Auto'. Powering the Hyundai AH2 (2018 Hyundai Santro) will be a modern version of the 1.1-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine of the Santro Xing, which in its service produced a maximum power of 63 PS and a peak torque of 98 Nm. The 2018 Hyundai Santro, however, should offer revised performance figures.
The new hatchback will offer ABS, dual front airbags, rear parking sensors and speed alert system as a part of the standard equipment list.
