As Hyundai continues extensively testing the AH2 out on the public roads, another batch of spy shots has surfaced online, this time from Chennai, courtesy Anything On Wheels.

The Hyundai AH2 will likely slot between the Hyundai Eon and the Hyundai Grand i10.

The Hyundai AH2 is anticipated to revive the Hyundai Santro nameplate. It will likely serve as a replacement for the first generation Hyundai i10, with a positioning between the Eon and the Grand i10. Spy shots clearly show that the AH2 features the iconic tall-boy design that has progressively evolved since 1998 from the original Santro to the second-gen i10/Grand i10. The AH2 will proudly bear the signature Cascading grille too, becoming the smallest Hyundai to do so.

Hyundai has developed the AH2 on the basis of the old generation i10's HA platform. It will offer the new hatchback with an updated version the Epsilon four-cylinder petrol engine from the original Santro. As an option to a standard 5-speed manual transmission, the company will offer a newly developed 5-speed automated manual transmission - a first for any Hyundai model to the date. Rivalling cars from Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors already give an AMT option.

The Hyundai AH2's deliveries will commence towards the end of October. Its official unveiling could take place on 23 September, the date on which Hyundai entered the Indian market with the Santro twenty years ago.
