Hyundai Creta exports to be expanded to 92 markets - Report
HMIL currently exports to Asian, Middle Eastern and African markets.
In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Mr Young Key Koo, MD of Hyundai Motor India Limited, has divulged that the Hyundai Creta will be exported to a total of 92 countries. Due to high demand in India where bookings have crossed 100,000, the Creta is currently shipped only to a handful of countries.
Other than the overwhelming response in the local market, Hyundai is reporting good demand from Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru & Panama, Oman, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco and Nigeria.
The company will further increase the production rate of the Hyundai Creta at the Chennai plant to 13,000 units per month in June, where 10,000 will cater to local demand. The Creta is manufactured in India and China, but the latter does not export. A report in December said the Creta could be made in Mexico, while the SUV was spotted on test for the first time in Brazil this month. Hyundai is designing a second B-Segment SUV to compete in developed markets, as the Creta lacks specification and safety features required in those countries.

Hyundai’s compact SUV used to be priced between INR 8.69 - INR 11.29 lakhs for the petrol variants and between INR 9.56 - INR 13.8 lakhs for the diesel variants (all ex-Showroom, New Delhi).
