Hyundai Creta heading to South Africa in Feb 2017 - Report

A number of new crossovers and SUVs are headed to South Africa next year, and one of them is the Hyundai Creta. According to a report from carmag.co.za, the Hyundai Creta will be launched in South Africa in February 2017.
The South African-spec Hyundai Creta will be sourced from HMIL's plant in Chennai. The compact SUV measures 4,270 mm in length, 1,780 mm in width and 1,630 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,590 mm. It's available with three engines in India: 1.6-litre Dual VTVT petrol, 1.4-litre CRDi diesel and 1.6-litre CRDi VGT diesel.
The South African-spec Hyundai Creta will be available with 1.6-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel engines, as per the report. These should be the same engines offered in India. The 1.6-litre petrol engine produces 123 PS at 6,400 rpm and 15.4 kgm of torque at 4,850 rpm, while the 1.6-litre diesel engine develops 128 PS at 4,000 rpm and 26.5 kgm of torque at 2,750 rpm. Transmission choices include 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic.

Projector headlamps, LED positioning lamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, engine start/stop button, 7.0-inch infotainment system with navigation, music system with four speakers and two tweeters, six airbags, Hill-start assist control (HAC) and Electronic stability control (ESC) are the highlights of the Hyundai Creta. In South Africa, the compact SUV will go against the Honda HR-V and the Mazda CX-3 which are already on sale, as well as the Toyota C-HR which is to arrive next year.
