Hyundai Creta (ix25) could be produced in Mexico - Report
India and China are the only countries to make the compact SUV.
According to a report on Noticias Automotivas, the Hyundai Creta (what is known as the Hyundai ix25 in the Chinese market) could enter production at Mexico. It is to be noted that at present, Hyundai does not operate a manufacturing plant in Mexico, though as per reports dated April this year, the brand is considering building a plant in that region following the footsteps of sister company Kia Motors.
Even if the compact SUV is produced in Mexico, the report states that it will not be sold in the North American market. Instead, the Creta/ix25 will be exported to 41 countries with whom Mexico has trade agreements. At present, China and India are the only countries to manufacture the product. While the China-made ix25 is exclusively for the Chinese market, the India-made Creta is already exported to markets in Latin America, Middle East, Africa, Vietnam and Nepal.
Based on a modified version of the fifth-generation Elantra's platform, the Creta slots above the i20 Active and below the Santa Fe in Hyundai Motor India's lineup. In markets abroad, the Creta is positioned as a smaller and more affordable alternative to the Tucson (ix35).

Launched in India in July this year, the Creta has bagged over 70,000 bookings in the country and 15,000 orders worldwide. Hyundai Motor India Ltd. has ramped up production of the Creta to around 10,000 units a month to satiate demand.
