India-made Hyundai Creta launched in Uruguay - IAB Report

Hyundai has launched the India-made Hyundai Creta in Uruguay for a price of 28,990 USD (INR 19.17 lakhs). Uruguay is the first South American country to sell the Creta, with reports indicating that countries like Brazil and Argentina will get the Creta sometime in 2016 or early-2017.
However, for other South American markets, the Creta will be manufactured in Brazil, reports state. The India-made Creta available in Uruguay is powered by the 1.6-liter Dual-VTVT petrol engine which develops 123 PS and 151 Nm of torque, and is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission driving the front wheels.
Features on the compact SUV include projector headlights, 16-inch alloy wheels, rear wiper and washer, steering mounted controls, a 2-DIN entertainment system with Bluetooth, auto dimming rear view mirror, ABS, EBD and dual front airbags, automatic climate control and rear AC vents.
Launched in India in July, the Creta has received over 54,000 bookings in India, and has seen HMIL (Hyundai Motor India Ltd.) ramp production from 5,000 units a month to 7,000 units a month. Starting December, production will be further increased to around 9,000 units a month, a report said.

Aside from the Creta, HMIL also exports products like the i10, Grand i10 and Grand i10 sedan (Xcent) to Uruguay.
