A petrol automatic variant of the 1.6 MPi petrol engine is expected to be INR 1.5 Lakhs cheaper than the diesel AT.

Currently, an automatic gearbox is only available for the Hyundai Creta 1.6 CRDi SX+, which accounts for 18 percent of the local demand. A petrol automatic variant of the Creta is expected to be INR 1.5 Lakhs cheaper, and could be appealing to customers looking for hassle-free drivability, with limited running requirements. Both, the diesel and petrol automatic variants are expected to account for 30% of Creta's sales.

As for the Hyundai Elite i20, the inclusion of an automatic variant will help rival the likes of the Maruti Baleno CVT, Honda Jazz CVT and Polo GT TSI.
