Hyundai India has garnered nearly 100,000 bookings for the Hyundai Creta, with supplies of 45,000 SUVs in domestic and exports markets.

To reduce the current waiting period of three months, Hyundai is increasing the production to 10,000 units for the domestic market from June 2016, which is expected to cut the waiting period to a month. As for export markets, Hyundai will ramp it up to 2,500 units per month, thus totaling the overall production rate to 12,500 units per month.

Initially, Hyundai took a leap of faith with setting the production rate at 6,000 units a month, while the rate at which its rivals where rolling out of the factory was at 6,000 units a month combined. Currently, the Creta's production rate is below 10,000 units per month, with about 7,000 units going into the domestic market and 2000-3000 units being exported.
