Official sketches of Hyundai Creta released - IAB Report

Identical to the ix25 SUV sold in China.

Following the reveal of its name, Hyundai India have now released the design sketches of its upcoming compact SUV - the Hyundai Creta.

The name 'Creta', says Hyundai, evokes the term 'Creative'.

As expected, the exterior design is identical to the Hyundai ix25 that is sold exclusively in China. It follows Hyundai's latest Fluidic sculpture 2.0 design language which influences the new Elite i20; characterized by a 3-slat hexagonal grille, swept-back projector headlamps, sporty lower fascia design, large horizontal wraparound taillamps and a roof spoiler.

The Chinese-spec ix25 measures 4,270 mm long, 1,780 mm wide, and 1,630 mm tall, putting it in the same segment as the Renault Duster and the upcoming Maruti S-Cross. The Creta would also be similar in size.

The interior of the Hyundai Creta follows a dual cockpit design, as seen in the ix25 SUV. The dashboard is finished in dual tone orange and black shades, which could be different with other available exterior color shades (like in the Hyundai i20 Active).

The official sketch confirms that the car will get an automatic transmission option.

However, the rendering does not feature a touchscreen infotainment display. Other notable equipment include a multifunction steering wheel, a music system with bluetooth connectivity, and HVAC vents for the rear passenger.

The Creta will reportedly offer the 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines borrowed from the Hyundai Verna. A base variant with a 1.4-liter diesel engine is also on the cards. As seen in the render, the Creta will offer an optional automatic option.

The Hyundai Creta will make its global debut in India in the second half of this year, followed by other markets across the globe. For India, the Creta will be made at the Chennai plant with localization levels above 90 percent, thus keeping the prices as competitive as possible.
