Report - Hyundai Elite i20 Cross to have increased ground clearance

Motorbash learns from sources that the Hyundai Elite i20 Cross which is currently undergoing real world tests would feature increased ground clearance compared to the regular hatchback.
Latest in the line of instant crossovers, the Elite i20 Cross, going by the test mules, features crossover ensembles like body cladding, rugged looking front and rear bumpers, roof rack, etc. An increased ground clearance would enable the soft crossover tackle the Indian road conditions better than the hatchback. Among its competition, only the Fiat Avventura features a raised ride height.
The publication also reports that the Elite i20 Cross would receive an updated braking system with bigger front disc calipers.

Just like other vehicles in the newly emerging segment, the Elite i20-based crossover would borrow its powertrain options from the donor car. The petrol engine would be a 1.2-litre four-cylinder 83 PS (81.83 bhp) and 114.7 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. A 1.4-litre four-cylinder CRDI motor producing 90 PS (88.74 bhp) and 220 Nm of torque when mated to a 6-speed manual transmission would be the diesel engine of choice.
