Hyundai has silently launched the Grand i10 with an automatic transmission in two variants. The Hyundai Grand i10 auto is now available in Sportz and Asta trims, powered by the 1.2-liter Kappa2 petrol engine.

Hyundai Grand i10 launched in Chennai
The Grand i10 was launched in early September with a manual transmission only.

The automatic transmission unit is a 4-speed box, and since the company has not issued a press release about this, we assume its the same unit found on the i20. Powering the Grand i10 auto is the same 1.2-liter Kappa2 engine with dual VTVT producing 85 bhp and 11.6 kgm of torque. The ARAI rated fuel efficiency for the Grand i10 auto is not disclosed yet.

The Grand i10 AT competes with hatchbacks such as the Maruti Ritz AT, Honda Brio AT and Nissan Micra CVT. While the Ritz sports a similar 4-speed automatic transmission, the Brio features a 5-speed unit, while the Micra gets Nissan's X-Tronic CVT.

Hyundai India is also believed to be working on an automatic transmission for the Grand i10 diesel. If launched, the Grand i10 diesel auto would be the only sub-10 lakh diesel automatic car.
