Deliveries of Hyundai Grand i10 CNG, Hyundai Xcent CNG begin - IAB Report

The Hyundai Grand i10 and its compact sedan version, the Hyundai Xcent, are available with CNG kits now in select regions of India, Hyundai has confirmed, with customer deliveries also having commenced. The prices of the CNG variants of the Grand i10 and the Xcent have not been specified on the website, but Overdrive reports that the CNG models are pricier by INR 65,000.

The Hyundai Grand i10 CNG and the Hyundai Xcent CNG are reported to be priced INR 65,000 higher than their equivalent petrol versions.

The CNG kit that is common for the Hyundai Grand i10 CNG and the Hyundai Xcent CNG features a new technology called the DEDST (Dual ECU Dynamic Sequential Technology). The sequential kit with separate injectors are said to maintain optimum gas flow to the engine in order for the motor to provide the same kind of performance it delivers with petrol fuel. The CNG kit is covered under the car's standard warranty which lasts for unlimited kilometres in 2 years.

The Hyundai Grand i10 LPG is reported to have been discontinued now.

There is no other mechanical change in the CNG variants of the Grand i10 and the Xcent. Their 1.2-litre Kappa Dual VTVT engine is reported to produce the same output - 83 PS at 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The CNG kit is offered only on the models with 5-speed manual transmission, not the ones with the 4-speed automatic units.

The publication also reports that the LPG variant of the Grand i10 has been discontinued due to poor demand.
