Hyundai Grand i10 Prime to pack a new 1.2L diesel engine - Report

Likely to be an upsized version of the 1.1L 3-cyl U2 engine.

An anonymous source reveals to Team-BHP that the Hyundai Grand i10 Prime will introduce a new 1.2L diesel engine. The 1.2L unit will succeed the 1.1L 3-cyl U2 diesel engine offered in the Grand i10 and Xcent, and could be an upsized version of it.

The 1.2L unit will replace the 1.1L 3-cyl U2 diesel engine offered in the Grand i10 and Xcent.

With the rise in displacement, the 1.2L diesel engine will produce more power and torque than the 1.1L unit's 71 PS and 16.3 kg.m. The new engine could also offer better refinement and fuel efficiency. The current Grand i10 diesel is capable of averaging 24 km/l (ARAI certified).

The Hyundai Grand i10 Prime is rumoured to launch next month and is Hyundai’s first product launch in 2017. The first major facelift for the Grand i10 since its debut in 2013 sees Hyundai India borrowing design cues from the Hyundai Grand i10 Prime which made its world premiere in Paris last year.

Spy shots show the Hyundai Grand i10 Prime modelled around the European spec Hyundai i10 that launched late last year.
