The European i20, manufactured in Izmit, Turkey, is slightly longer, more feature-heavy and offers an automatic gearbox option.

The i20 is based on a new platform (shared with the Elite) and will come with a 1.2-liter petrol (available in 75 hp and 84 hp states) and a 1.1-liter diesel (75 hp and 90 hp) in the basic variants. Then comes the 1.4-liter petrol (with 100 hp) that is available with an automatic transmission, an LPG variant on the 1.2-liter petrol, and a three-door variant next year. The commercial launch will take place in January.

The wheelbases are similar but the bumpers are bigger on the Europe-spec model.

A Hyundai spokesperson has told Autoblog that the visibility of the new car has improved from changes made to the B-Pillar, and better quality materials were used as they help in maintaining the price of the car when it is resold.

In terms of features, European i20 additionally offers projector headlights and sunroof. Dimensionally it keeps the same wheelbase (2,570 mm) as the Indian model but is 45 mm longer.

The European model does not use the 'Elite' branding.
