Hyundai India sets record sales in 2014 with 4.1L units sold - IAB Report

2014 has been the best year for Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) since it started its Indian operations 16 years ago. The Korean car maker registered record sales of 4.1 lakh units, and currently has 21.6 percent market share, its highest till date. HMIL's authorized dealerships have also serviced 4.3 million cars last year.

2014 saw HMIL enter the compact sedan segment.

2014 saw the successful product launches of the Xcent compact sedan, the Santa Fe SUV and the Elite i20 premium hatchback. The latter also won the Indian Car of the Year award, and has already bagged 60,000 bookings till date.

Mr. BS Seo, Managing Director & CEO, HMIL said, that 2015 will see continued growth for the company with new products. Two of these products include the ix25 compact SUV and the Elite i20 Cross, both of which will mark Hyundai's entry in the compact SUV and crossover segments respectively.

December 2014 saw HMIL's domestic sales rise by 14.7 percent to 32,504 units as compared to December 2013's 28,345 units. The car maker also exported 26,861 units, a marked 29.6 percent increase year-on-year.

India's top car maker, Maruti Suzuki, sold 98,109 units in the domestic market in December 2014, while combined sales (including exports) was at 109,791 units.
