Already started testing in India.

The newly launched Hyundai ix25 compact crossover is in attendance at the Guangzhou Auto Show 2014. The SUV has a starting price of 119,800 yuan (around INR 11.96 lakhs) in China.

The China-spec model is powered either by a 1.6-litre four-cylinder or a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and an automatic unit.

The 1.6-litre mill is capable of 122.8 bhp and 150.7 Nm of torque, and is available only in the front wheel drive configuration. The bigger powerplant generates a healthy 158 bhp and 192 Nm of torque. Both FWD and 4WD are available.

The generously equipped top-end variant features LED daytime running lights, panoramic sunroof, leather seats, electrically folding wing mirrors, touchscreen multimedia infotainment system, cruise control, automatic climate control, keyless start, reverse parking camera, ESP and so on. Standard safety equipment include dual airbags and ABS with EBD.

The South Korean SUV will lock horns with the recently launched Honda Vezel and the Honda XR-V (a low-cost version of the Vezel exclusive for the Chinese market) which debuts at Guangzhou today.

The ix25 has already started testing in India signaling a launch next year. Competition in the Indian market would come from the likes of Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Mahindra Scorpio.
