Hyundai ix25 compact SUV caught on test in Chennai - Spied
Engine line-up likely to be shared with the Verna.
Expected to be launched in the festive period (October-November) this year, the Hyundai ix25 has been caught on test again, in Chennai where the car maker operates its plant.
The ix25, which is on sale in China, measures 4,270 mm in length, 1,780 mm in width, and 1,630 mm in height. It is expected to share its engine lineup with the Verna - both the 1.4-litre petrol and diesel, and 1.6-litre versions. And while front-wheel drive will be standard, Hyundai could up the vehicle's crossover status by offering an AWD option.
With an increased localisation (up to 90 per cent), the ix25 will be competitively priced. Hyundai currently has just one manufacturing facility, located in Chennai. But with the additions in the line-up, the company could offload some of the manufacturing responsibilities to a second plant, which is yet to be finalized, but a previous report says a Rajasthan-based plant is likely.
