Top-spec Hyundai ix25 caught testing in Chennai - Spied
Hyundai's new car for the Indian festival season.
IAB reader Ashwin Kumar has spied the Hyundai ix25 testing in Chennai. The car is understood to be a fully-loaded variant complete with roof rails, alloy wheels and blinkers on the ORVMs.
Expected to emerge on the market in the September-November 2015 period, the ix25 is likely to feature the same 1.6-liter MT/AT as the Verna, while an AWD option is doubtful.
Codenamed 'Hyundai GS', the ix25 may also get a different branding in India. The company, according to an earlier report, has invested INR 1,000 crore for the project and is looking at a localisation of 90 percent at its manufacturing facility in Chennai.
Currently only available in China, the urban SUV is 4,270 mm long, 1,780 mm wide, and 1,630 mm tall, putting it in a class above the EcoSport.
The Chinese spec model has LED daytime running lights, sunroof, leather seats, touchscreen multimedia infotainment system, electrically folding mirrors, cruise control, automatic climate control, keyless start, reverse parking camera and ESP, some of which should be provided on the Indian spec ix25.
Also noteworthy is that in the Chinese crash test, the car scored a perfect 5-star rating.
