The Hyundai QXi should offer various premium features like an electric sunroof, wireless phone charging pod, HID Xenon projector headlamps, et al.

Speaking on the new model, Puneet said

"Hyundai is very very focused as far as customer requirements are concerned. We have done a lot of research in the sub-4-metre segment and once we are launching the product somewhere in the first half of the next year, you will definitely find many features, which will again be the best and the first in the segment as far as sub-4-metre compact SUV is concerned. So, yes, you should always be confident that when it comes to Hyundai, we are a game-changer company, we are a state-of-the-art manufacturer, we are a market leader and we are a modern premium brand. And it will be our endeavour to offer modern premium values and segment-first features to the customer as and when we enter that segment."

The Hyundai QXi was previewed by the Carlino concept at the Auto Expo 2016. In the transition from the concept stage to the production model, the aesthetics of the sub-4-metre SUV has been through various changes to stay in sync with the company’s latest design language. Its front-end will feature a prominent Cascading grille and Hyundai Composite Light two-tier headlamps. The side profile will be reminiscent of the Hyundai Creta. An all-around body cladding and faux skit plats at front and rear will put emphasis on the QXi's ruggedness.

Hyundai will reportedly name the QXi 'Styx'. It will be available in a range of petrol and diesel engines. The entry-level models could be offered with a retuned version of the Grand i10's 1.2-litre Kappa engine that will comply with the BSVI emission norms. The higher variants will reportedly get a 1.0-litre T-GDI turbocharged petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 120 PS and a peak torque of 171 Nm in the i30. The diesel variant is likely to be propelled by a new 1.5-litre diesel engine that would output 116 PS and 250 Nm. The entry-level petrol engine could be sold with a SmartAUTO AMT option.
