Autocar reports that the Hyundai QXi, which could be ultimately called the Hyundai Venue, will be unveiled on April 17, while its launch will take place in mid-May 2019.

Earlier this month, Hyundai Motor India Ltd teased its sub-Creta SUV for the first time. Expected to be called the Hyundai Venue, the new model is currently known by its codename QXI.

While it was earlier understood that the Hyundai QXi would make its world premiere at the New York Motor Show, it is now being said that the new model would be unveiled simultaneously in India. It is being reported that the company's new sub-compact SUV will be produced at the Sriperumbudur-based facility in India and at the Ulsan plant in South Korea.

Locally, the Hyundai QXI will be pitted against the Maruti Vitara Brezza and Mahindra XUV300. Currently, it's unknown if the Indian version would carry styling revisions over the international model, but slight disparities can be safely expected due to the company's effort to fine-tune the model to suit the local tastes. Measuring less than 4,000 mm in length, the new model will have a bold stance an angular design. While its front-end will feature the trademark Cascading grille and Composite Light multi-tier lighting setup, its DLO will be reminiscent of the Creta.

On the inside, the Hyundai QXi will likely offer segment-leading features, including ventilated front seats and an electric sunroof. The standard safety net will include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, front seatbelt reminder (SBR), and high-speed warning buzzer. The top-spec model is expected to even provide Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Hill Start Assist, Reverse Parking Camera with dynamic guide lines and 6 airbags.

It is being said that internationally, the Hyundai QXi will be sold with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.6-litre turbo-diesel engine. In India, however, the new model should go on sale with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, a 1.4-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.4-litre turbo-diesel motor.
