The 2017 Chengdu Motor Show that opens tomorrow will mark the debut of the Hyundai Reina in production spec. However, before the official presentation, photographs from the venue reveal its interior for the first time.

Hyundai has confirmed that the touchscreen AVN will get Apple CarPlay and Baidu CarLife smartphone support.

The car made its debut at the 2017 Chongqing Motor Show, but in pre-production state showing only its exterior. The image exposes the sedan's interior with the dashboard in full. It has a rather sombre design finished in all-black with a patch of silver running across the dashboard and around the aircon vents. The centre console houses a touchscreen and rotary controls for the air conditioning unit. The image also reveals white backlit dials in the instrument console. This particular example of the Hyundai Reina engages an automatic transmission, evident from the gear selector.

The exterior appears identical to that of the pre-production model from Chongqing. Hyundai's signature cascading grille adorns the nose of the car flanked by headlights with blackened inserts. There is an application of chrome outlining the grille and around the fog lamp enclosures. At the back, the sedan features a simple boot with tail lamps reminiscent of the pre-facelift Hyundai Xcent.

The Hyundai Reina is based on the fourth generation Verna's platform. It measures 4,300 mm in length, 1,705 mm in width and 1,460 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,570 mm. Propelling the car will be a 1.4 L petrol engine working in union with either a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual.

Hyundai has confirmed that the car will get Apple CarPlay and Baidu CarLife smartphone integration along with wireless charging. According to an earlier report, the budget sedan will feature VSM (Vehicle Stability Management, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), ESS (Emergency Stop Signal) and HAC (Hill-start Assist Control).

The Hyundai Reina is aimed at the budget end of the market. It is exclusive to China like the Mistra and Celesta.

The launch of the Hyundai Reina along with the price announcement will take place at the Chengdu Motor Show. The entry sedan will challenge the Chevrolet Sail in China. Also, present at the venue will be the 2017 Suzuki Alivio (Maruti Ciaz) and the Hyundai ix25 (Hyundai Creta) facelift.
