In India, the Hyundai Styx will launch by the end of the first quarter of 2019 and will compete with the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, and Mahindra XUV300.

The Hyundai Styx is a sub-Creta SUV that was previewed by the Hyundai HND-14 ‘Carlino' Concept at the Auto Expo 2016. It will feature a bold version of the signature cascading grille and the 'Composite Light' multi-tier front light arrangement. The setup will comprise LED DRLs at the hood-level and projector headlamps at a lower position, as seen on the new Santa Fe and the Kona.

On the sides, the Hyundai Styx has a Hyundai Creta-like silhouette, which is mainly owing to a similar greenhouse, C-pillar and roofline. As revealed by earlier spy media, the beltline rises gently towards the rear, which is a design feature similar to that of the 2019 Hyundai Grand i10.

The Indian-spec Hyundai Styx should feature a three-pot 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor and a four-cylinder 1.5-litre turbocharged oil burner. The low-displacement gasoline engine, which will make its local debut in the new SUV, produces a maximum power of 118 hp and a peak torque of 171 Nm. The new diesel powerplant, which will replace the 1.6-litre CRDi motor from the company's existing family of engines, should offer 115 hp and 250 Nm. A BSVI-version of the 1.2-litre Kappa engine could be used to keep the base price competitive. Even a 'SmartAUTO' AMT could be offered.
