Hyundai will sell the Styx in India with a 1.0-litre T-GDI petrol engine, a 1.4-litre Kappa Dual VTVT petrol engine and a 1.4-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine.

Previously, reports said that Hyundai will sell the Styx in India with the 1.0-litre T-GDI turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine and the 1.4-litre U2 CRDi turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine. According to a new report from Autocar India, the company plans to offer the 1.4-litre Kappa Dual VTVT petrol engine as well, to keep the entry pricing low.

Hyundai hasn’t offered the 1.0-litre T-GDI engine in any of its models in India. The company will offer it in the 100 PS/172 Nm version, along with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The four-cylinder units will come from the Verna. The petrol unit produces 100 PS and 13.5 kg.m (132.39 Nm) of torque, while the diesel unit develops 90 PS and 22.4 kg.m (219.67 Nm) of torque. Both will likely send drive to the wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.

Hyundai will likely reserve the 1.0-litre T-GDI engine and the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission to the higher-end grades. In 2020 or later, a pure electric variant may follow, as a Mahindra XUV300 Electric competitor.
