Hyundai Venue Unveiled in India midst Arabian Sea, Launch on 21 May [Update]

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has just taken the covers off the Hyundai Venue, which is being touted as 'India's first connected SUV'. The new Maruti Vitara Brezza rival has been unveiled on a vessel sailing through the Arabian Sea. Moreover, the smallest Hyundai SUV ever has simultaneously made its motorshow debut at the 2019 New York International Auto Show. It will be launched on 21 May.

The Hyundai Venue measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,770 mm in width, and 1,590 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,500 mm. In comparison, the Hyundai Creta is 4,270 mm long, 1,780 mm wide and 1,680 mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2,590 mm.

Hyundai says that the Venue has been meticulously crafted to meet the needs of the Indian youth who seek a technologically-advanced vehicle. The new small SUV offers a bold and youthful look with traditional SUV proportions and modern styling elements. The front-end bears a resemblance with the Hyundai Kona and features a similar cascading grille and composite light setup, while the side profile reminds one of the Hyundai Creta with similar straight lines and DLO. The rear-end looks dynamic with a neatly-sculpted tailgate and squarish tail lamps.

Inside, the Hyundai Styx features a dual tone beige-grey colour theme and is made up of high-quality materials. A floating type touchscreen infotainment takes centre stage on the dashboard. It is flanked by squarish central air vents with rounded corners. The new model marks the local debut of the company's ‘Blue Link’ connected car technologies, which offers 33 connected car features, of which 10 are India-specific. The features list of the new model includes projector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, projector fog lamps, electric sunroof,  wireless charger, Arkamys sound driver, cornering lights and a cooled glovebox. The safety suite comprises ABS with EBD, 6 airbags, ESC with VSM, HAC, BA and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

The Hyundai Venue will be sold with three engine options: 1.0-litre Kappa T-GDI turbocharged direct-injection petrol, 1.2-litre Kappa naturally-aspirated petrol, and 1.4-litre CRDI turbocharged diesel. The turbo-petrol motor outputs a maximum power of 120 PS and a peak torque of 175 Nm, while the naturally aspirated motor offers 83 PS and 90 Nm. The oil-burner provides 90 PS and 224 Nm. The more powerful gasoline mill will be available with 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and 6-speed manual transmissions, while the base petrol motor will come mated to a 5-speed manual unit. The oil-burner will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
